International Governing Body
Archery Overview
With use of the longbow dating back to Crecy (1346) and Agincourt (1415), archery is a sport steeped in tradition. To this day archery is the only sport providing the official bodyguard to the monarch whilst maintaining a balance with the modern Olympic sport.
Archery appeared at several Olympics between 1900 and 1920 but was excluded until 1972 where it has remained ever since.
