Baseball Overview
Baseball originated in America but is based on the British game of "rounders". The first rules are thought to have been written in 1845. Baseball has existed in the UK since 1890 and has been governed by the British Baseball Federation since 1987. In 2000 BaseballSoftballUK was introduced as the managing agent. The current aim is to maintain and build on current standards.
Baseball has been a demonstration sport eight times at the Olympic Games since 1904 before appearing as an Olympic sport in the 1992 Games in Barcelona.
