Blind Archery Overview

Archery for visually impaired people has been around since the early 1970’s. It is the most recent sport to receive full official status within the IBSA and is to be presented to the International Paralympic Committee. If accepted visually impaired Archers wil be able to compete at the highest level.

The British Blind Sport Archery sub-Committee was formed in 1985 when a group of visually impaired archers met with the Chairman of the Grand National Archery Society. At this meeting they formulated the rules for visually impaired Archery. This meant that they could compete in competitions alongside there sighted counterparts.
