Hockey Overview
Hockey can be traced back as far as 2000 BC (Egypt) and 1000 BC (Ethiopia). Further evidence shows that a form of the game was played by Ancient Greeks, Roman and Aztec Indians. The modern game was developed in English schools in the mid-18th Century.
Hockey has been an Olympic Games fixture since 1908 and until recently the sport was dominated by Indian teams.
