Judo Overview
Judo was created in Japan in 1881. Professor Jigoro Kano developed the sport from various schools of Jujitsu and became the first Asian member of the International Olympic Committee.
Introduced by the host nation, Judo became an Olympics sport at the Tokyo Games of 1964. The sport is split into 4 weight divisions. Judo has appeared on the Paralympic program since Seoul, 1998.
