Disability Volleyball Overview

New to the Paralympic program in Arnhem, 1980, disability volleyball was originally both a standing and sitting sport. However standing volleyball was removed following the Games in Sydney 2000. Sitting volleyball uses a smaller court than standard and a lower net, making the game much faster than the standing equivalent.

The game is played to the best of five sets, first to 25 points (2 clear) per set and is open to athletes with a physical disability.
