Triathlon Overview

A relatively new sport; the first triathlon event took place in the USA (San Diego) in 1974. Born out of the jogging craze in California, Triathlon is a non-stop race including running, cycling and swimming. There are currently four course length, Sprint, Olympic, Long Course and Ultra.


Appearing for the first time at the Sydney Olympics in 2000, the Olympic version of the sport comprises of a 1.5km swim, a 40km cycle ride and 10km run. There are individual events for men and women.
